Working across media to create and document sculptures and abstract forms, her work examines fragility and performance, tension and connection, treading a poetic line between sensation and imagination.

Howell is interested in the body and what it can hold and signify, exploring the power and vulnerability of the human form and its relationship to seemingly inanimate objects. Through an intuitive working process, she has developed a vision of the body as a porous entity without boundaries, using this vision to question whether each of us is as separate from the world that surrounds us as we seem.
